Differentiate:

y=\displaystyle\frac{\sin(3x)}{x}

Solution

Here we use the informal chain rule together with the quotient rule (the 'quote' means: the derivative of):

y'=\displaystyle\frac{x\cos(3x)\cdot[3x]'-\sin(3x)\cdot1}{x^2}=\displaystyle\frac{3x\cos(3x)-\sin(3x)}{x^2}
