Assignment 8

Differentiate:

y=\displaystyle\frac{1}{(3x+4)^2}

Solution

We can rewrite this function as:

y=(3x+4)^{-2}

Using the informal method we get:

y'=-2(3x+4)^{-3}\cdot3=-\displaystyle\frac{6}{(3x+4)^3}

The factor 3 comes from:

[3x+4]'=3
