y=1-2\sin^2(x)

Solution

We can apply the chain rule, but it is easier and faster to rewrite the function first:

y=1-2\sin^2(x)=\cos(2x)

and thus (the 'quote' means: the derivative of):

y'=-\sin(2x)\cdot[2x]'=-2\sin(2x)
