Differentiate:

$y=\sin(2x)$

Solution

We have differentiated this function before using the product rule after we had written the function as:

$y=2\sin(x)\cos(x)$

This can be done a lot faster by using the chain rule:

$y'=\cos(2x)\cdot2=2\cos(2x)$

The factor $2$ comes from:

$[2x]'=2$
