Assignment 4

Simplify:

\displaystyle\frac{2x^{0.25}y^{0.75}}{4x}

Solution

This assignment is relatively easy. The x moves to the denominator (the sign of the exponent has to be changed):

\displaystyle\frac{2x^{0.25}y^{0.75}}{4x}=\displaystyle\frac{y^{0.75}}{2x^{0.75}}=\displaystyle\frac{y^{\frac{3}{4}}}{2x^{\frac{3}{4}}}=\displaystyle\frac{1}{2}\sqrt[\displaystyle{4}]{(\displaystyle\frac{y}{x})^3}
