Assignment 6

Calculate the volume of the cylinder which is the result of revolving the line y=R, x\in[0,h] around the X-axis.

Solution

We can calculate this assignment easily because we know the volume of a cylinder. Yet, we also get the answer by revolving the line y=R around the X-axis.
We get:

\displaystyle\int_{0}^{h}\pi{R^2}dx=[\pi{R^2}x]_{0}^{h}=\pi{R^2}h

as expected.
