Solution assignment 29 Differentiation of standard functions

Return to Assignments Differentiation of standard functions

Assignment 29

Differentiate:

y=\sin(x)(\sin^2(x)+\cos^2(x))

Solution

This function looks complicated but it is not. We apply the following trigonometric formula:

\sin^2(x)+\cos^2(x)=1

and thus we have to differentiate:

y=\sin(x)\cdot1=\sin(x)

The derivative is:

y'=\cos(x)
