Assignment 11

Differentiate:

$y=e^{2x}$

Solution

The list of standard function contains the function:

$y=e^x$

but not the original function above. We may write:

$y=e^{2x}=e^x.e^x$

and thus we can apply the product rule:

$y'=e^x.e^x+e^x.e^x=2e^{2x}$

However, it is a lot easier to apply the Chain rule.
